Whether you call it ethical, sustainable or socially responsible investing, we have a moral responsibility to ensure that our investment practices are in accordance with the guidelines established by the Uniting Church SA.
We are bound by the Ethical Investment Policy of the Uniting Church SA in relation to our investment practices. Likewise, all congregations and internal entities are also bound by this policy.
The policy adopts a 'negative filter' approach to screening investments and seeks to exclude companies with defined characteristics from the possible investment pool of the Church.
The currect policy excludes investments in companies which have substantial interests in the production of armaments, gambling, tobacco, alcohol, uranium and pornography.
By adopting a negative filter approach to ethical screening, we therefore imply that all other companies are considered neutral.
